Angela Cano Sampson

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified School Counselor, Certified School Administrator and Special Education Teacher. I am an Assistant Professor of the Master of Science in School Counseling program at Texas A& M International University. I have served as College and Career Coordinator and Mental Health Counselor for the Center for Refugee Services. After more than 30 years counseling and working in schools within the San Antonio and New Braunfels communities, I now practice in the heart of the Medical Center in San Antonio Texas at Evolución Counseling where counseling services are offered to individuals, couples, and families facing a broad range of issues.

I am experienced and trained to deliver quality mental health counseling to meet your needs. I am currently seeing clients in office and virtually and for your convenience available weekends and evenings.  As a cancer survivor of 12 years, I can relate to those who, like me, have experienced the process of living with and beating cancer… embracing this moment as a life-changing experience. Happily, I can support those who seek growth beyond the traumatic nature of the diagnosis and are willing to seize the  opportunities for creative self-transformation into an “elevated version of self”. I am “ALL IN” with taking this journey with you and your family wherever it may lead! 

My style is holistic in nature catering to the client’s mind, body and soul and social emotional learning as they navigate their world and wellness. I draw from a strengths-based, solution- focused therapeutic approach. In my work and training, I include Client Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Multicultural and Interpersonal Psychotherapies to support my clients with living their most optimal lives.

Dr Seth Sampson LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR, PH.D., LPC, NCC, CSC

Dr. Seth A. Sampson is the Program Director and Assistant Professor of the School Counseling Program at Texas A&M International University. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Future Educators. He is a Nationally Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor- Supervisor, and a Certified School Counselor, having worked at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Additional areas of certification include social studies, special education, and school administration.  Dr. Sampson provides counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups. He uses a variety of therapeutic approaches and works from an integrative perspective. He focuses on working collaboratively with his clients to enhance their sense of self and serves as a supportive entity on their expedition towards the best version of themselves. He has current availability for new clients. Dr. Sampson also provides supervision services to LPC- Associates who are seeking full licensure. He assists LPC-Associates with the development of their professional identity as a counselor and works collaboratively with them on areas of personal and professional growth. In his role as an LPC-Supervisor, Dr. Sampson serves as a teacher, mentor, counselor, and consultant and is always receptive to feedback to improve his Supervision skills. He is currently accepting new LPC-Associates.

Alma Bertani, as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and a person passionate to help others, I am humbled to have gained the experience in guiding others through hardships. I have worked the past six years working with dual diagnosis clients who struggle with mental health and substance use. Whether you are struggling to deal with overcoming emotions, anxiety, depression, relationship issues/separation, reaching personal goals, trauma, childhood abuse, know that I am here to help you every step of the way. By providing, individualistic and/or group counseling, person-centered counseling, acceptance commitment and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Alma Bertani, I currently reside in Laredo, Texas who speaks both English and Spanish and I find self-care an importance in daily activity from walking/running with my dog Coconut, reading books over mindfulness/acceptance, going to different restaurants and trying new foods, spending quality time with my family and friends, and finding new documentary’s online from adventurous to thrillers.

Hello. My name is Camelia Valadez and I am excited to join the Evolucion Counseling Practice Family Family.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, under the clinical supervision of Dr. Seth Sampson.  I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M International University, at Laredo, from where I also earned a Master of Science degree in School Counseling in 2020. I have been a certified classroom teacher for 16 years, and recently began teaching special education.  I also hold a school counselor certification.  My teaching experiences have shown me the importance of building rapport with students in order to facilitate growth and change, which holds equally true in the counseling relationship.  I strongly believe it is important for the counselor to provide a safe and genuine environment in order to facilitate therapeutic change.  Although my primary counseling strategies involve a person-centered cognitive behavioral approach, I will implement any technique which will most benefit my clients.  I enjoy reading, writing, swimming, movies, live music and traveling.  I am always planning for a new adventure, because I believe a fulfilling life requires a plan and something to look forward to, and a successful counseling experience is a springboard for clients to plan for their own next experience.
